The Work
The Kataria Residence is the project behind Agrima's 2026 Smart Space Award. Across a 1.08-acre property in Ahmedabad, lighting, climate, surveillance, entertainment and access control were designed as a single system rather than as separate installations sharing a building.
That integration is the part clients notice day to day: one interface covers the whole property, and scenes reach across systems that would otherwise have no way of talking to each other — the lighting responding to the theatre, the theatre responding to the time of day.

The house runs on Crestron Home OS. The interfaces are deliberately understated — minimalist Crestron Horizon keypads, concealed wiring and discreet touchscreens — so the control layer reads as part of the architecture rather than bolted onto it. Lighting, climate control, distributed audio, security and access all sit inside that one ecosystem.
Eleven rooms are dedicated surround-sound entertainment spaces, from bedroom lounges through to informal entertainment rooms and a cigar room. The audio system also takes a live performance feed: musicians can connect directly and have what they are playing distributed around the property in real time.
A property this size cannot sit on a single processor. The system uses a distributed processing architecture — a master processor, floor-level processors and backup processors — over a high-performance AV-over-IP network, so a fault in one part of the house does not take the rest of it with it.

- Netgear managed switches — the network backbone the AV-over-IP layer depends on
